Blog Phase 4

http://voices.yahoo.com/is-hip-hop-responsible-wrongful-influences-177239.html?cat=4

The new source that I picked was from Yahoo Voices called "Is Hip Hop responsible for the wrongful influences in our children? This source was a blog written by an individual who felt very strongly on what her children listen too. This article gives real life stories that happened so unless she made them up they are probably true especially since she put names and ages next to the situations.

This source will be useful because in the other sources I talked about the negative effects on the youth from a medical perspective or a alcohol drug outlook. But this article provides the audience with real life situations mainly referring to why rap music is morally wrong for their children to take part in. One parent quote's secular rap music as the "devil" because it is so destructive and explicit it's not even funny.

Yahoo Voices article, "Is Hip Hop responsible for the wrongful influences in our children?, talks about the negative effects on rap music in a youthful atmosphere. The author describes hip-hop music as "music with an attitude."The article talks about how hip hop is morally wrong. Most of the situations refer to what the person  writing the responses feels about their children acting the way the rappers act.

  1. Matt, as you continue to evaluate the credibility of sources, you need to use the CRAAP handout from class. This handout asks over 20 questions that, with research and insight on your part, help you evaluate the true credibility of a source. The three evaluations you've posted so far are incomplete, not covering each category of CRAAP.

Also, two out of your three sources lack major credibility because no real information is provided about who wrote the article. As you continue on in this project use the library's database to search newspapers, magazines, and academic journals. These sources will ultimately suit your research needs better because you can verify who has written the piece, who published it, when it was published, etc.

Your summary hits on some of the key points from the source, but remember, a summary should always indicate the source's main point or bottom line. In this particular blog, the author wanted to persuade his audience that the investment we make in kids' lives is far more influential than any entertainment they watch.
